Boosted Decision Trees in the Level-1 Muon Endcap Trigger at CMS / CMS Collaboration The first implementation of a Machine Learning Algorithm inside a Level-1 trigger system at the LHC is presented. The Endcap Muon Track Finder (EMTF) at CMS uses Boosted Decision Trees (BDTs) to infer the momentum of muons in the forward region of the detector, based on 25 different variables [...] CMS-CR-2017-357.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 6 p. Search for R-parity violating supersymmetry and quantum black-holes in e+mu final state in CMS / Mukherjee, Swagata (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) /CMS Collaboration A search for narrow resonances decaying to an electron and a muon is performed using an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb$^{-1}$ of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC. The e$\mu$ mass spectrum is also investigated for non-resonant contributions from the production of quantum black holes (QBH). [...] CMS-CR-2017-320.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 7 p. Functional Tests of 2S Modules for the CMS Phase-2 Tracker Upgrade with a microTCA-based Readout System / Preuten, Marius (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) /CMS Collaboration First full size 2S module prototypes for the CMS Phase-2 Tracker Upgrade have been assembled. With two sensors with realistic geometries and 16 CBC2 readout chips on two front-end hybrids these allow to study the characteristics of these complex objects.A microTCA based readout system was developed to test multiple front-end hybrids simultaneously. Design of the new front-end electronics for the readout of the upgraded CMS electromagnetic calorimeter for the HL-LHC / Cometti, Simona (INFN, Turin) ; Mazza, Gianni (INFN, Turin) /CMS Collaboration The Compact Muon Solenoid detector was originally designed to operate for about ten years, for LHC instantaneous luminosities up to $1 \cdot 10^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ and integrated luminosity of 500 fb$^{-1}$. The High Luminosity LHC will increase the instantaneous luminosity by about a factor of 5 from current levels and CMS will accumulate an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{-1}$ by about 2035. With such high luminosity the electromagnetic calorimeter of CMS will have to cope with a challenging increase in the number of interactions per bunch crossing and in radiation levels. The CMS trigger in Run 2 / Tosi, Mia (CERN) /CMS Collaboration During its second period of operation (Run 2) which started in 2015, the LHC will reach a peak instantaneous luminosity of approximately 2$\times 10^{34}$~cm$^{-2}s^{-1}$ with an average pile-up of about 55, far larger than the design value. Under these conditions, the online event selection is a very challenging task. [...] CMS-CR-2017-340.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 7 p. Precision measurements of electroweak parameters / Savin, Alexander (Wisconsin U., Madison) /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations A set of selected precise measurements of the SM parameters from the LHC experiments is discussed. Results on W-mass measurement and forward-backward asymmetry in production of the Drell--Yan events in both dielectron and dimuon decay channels are presented together with results on the effective mixing angle measurements. The CMS ECAL Upgrade for Precision Crystal Calorimetry at the HL-LHC / Jofrehei, Arash (IPM, Tehran) /CMS Collaboration The Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment (CMS) is operating at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) with proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV center-of-mass energy and at a bunch spacing of 25 ns. Challenging running conditions for CMS are expected after the High-Luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC). [...] CMS-CR-2017-324.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 4 p. Status of exotic searches at the LHC / Vernieri, Caterina (Fermilab) /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations An overview of the searches for new heavy resonances decaying to standard model (SM) bosons or fermions at the TeV mass scale is presented. Results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity up to about $36\; \mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ recorded in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV with the CMS and ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.. New results on Higgs boson properties / Piedra, Jónatan /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations We present the latest ATLAS and CMS measurements of several properties of the Higgs boson, such as signal-strength modifiers for the main production modes, fiducial and differential cross sections, and the Higgs mass. We have analyzed the 13~TeV proton-proton LHC collision data recorded in 2016, corresponding to integrated luminosities up to 36.1~${\rm fb}^{-1}$. Data analysis at the CMS level-1 trigger: migrating complex selection algorithms from offline analysis and high-level trigger to the trigger electronics / Wulz, Claudia (Vienna, OAW) /CMS Collaboration With ever increasing luminosity at the LHC, optimum online data selection is becoming more and more important. While in the case of some experiments (LHCb and ALICE) this task is being completely transferred to computer farms, the others -- ATLAS and CMS -- will not be able to do this in the medium-term future for technological, detector-related reasons.
