Fifty installed!

The team responsible for installing the superconducting magnets in the LHC tunnel is celebrating the installation of the fiftieth superconducting dipole. The 17-metre long, 35-tonne dipoles started being lowered into the tunnel on 7 March this year. When they are all installed, there will be a full tally of 1232 in the tunnel. The current installation rate is 10 per week and up to three each night. As soon as technically feasible, the installation rate will be increased to up to 20 per week.
