Monty Python’s
Life of Brian
By Terry Jones (UK, 1979)
With: Graham Chapman, Terence Bayler, Charles McKeown, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin
Original version English; French subtitles; 94 minutes.
The setting is Judea 33 A.D., a time of poverty and chaos, with no shortage of messiahs, followers willing to believe in them and exasperated Romans trying to impose some order. At the centre of it all is Brian, a reluctant would-be messiah who rises to prominence as a result of a series of absurd and truly hilarious circumstances providing ample opportunity for the entire Monty Python ensemble to shine in multiple roles as they mock everyone and everything, from ex-lepers, Pontius Pilate and the art of haggling to crazy prophets, Roman centurions and crucifixion.

However the canopy saves his life and Boris becomes limp and quits his job in Columbia. He moves to an old apartment downtown and gives chess classes to children to make some money. When the simpleminded religious Mississippi runaway Melodie Saint Ann Celestine asks him for food, he temporarily lodges the girl in his apartment. Along the days, the atheist Boris shapes Melodie to his thoughts and the girl, impressed with his pretentious geniality, fits his world. Despite their difference of ages, they marry each other and have a routine life. However, the world of Boris changes when out of the blue Melodie's mother Marietta arrives in their apartment.
