Investigation of Single Event Latch-up effects in the ALICE SAMPA ASIC / Mahmood, Sohail Musa (Oslo U.) ; Roeed, Ketil (Oslo U.) /ALICE
During RUN 3 and RUN 4 at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the SAMPA chip will be used in the upgraded front end electronics of the ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) Time Projection Chamber (TPC) and Muon Chambers (MCH). Previously, it was reported that the SAMPAV2 prototypes were susceptible to the high energy proton induced Single Event Latch-up (SEL) events. [...]

Measurement of azimuthal correlations of D mesons with charged particles in pp collisions at $\sqrt s =$ 13 TeV with ALICE at the LHC / Naik, Bharati (Indian Inst. Tech., Mumbai)
The ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) detector at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) is dedicated to the study of the properties of the hot and dense QCD matter (Quark–Gluon Plasma) produced in the nucleus-nucleus collisions at high energy. Heavy quarks (charm and beauty), having large masses, are produced in the hard-parton scattering in the early stages of the collision. [...]

The High Momentum Particle IDentification (HMPID) detector PID performance and its contribution to the ALICE physics program / Volpe, Giacomo (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) /ALICE
The ALICE apparatus is dedicated to study the properties of strongly interacting matter under extremely high temperature and energy density conditions. For this, enhanced particle identification (PID) capabilities are required. [...]

Calibration of the ALICE PHOS calorimeter / Blau, Dmitry (Kurchatov Inst., Moscow) /ALICE Collaboration
The procedure for the energy calibration of the high granularity electromagnetic calorimeter PHOS of the ALICE experiment is presented. The methods used to perform the relative gain calibration, to estimate the geometrical alignment and the corresponding correction of the absolute energy scale, to evaluate the non-linearity correction coefficients and finally, to calculate the time-dependent calibration corrections, are discussed and illustrated by the PHOS performance in proton-proton (pp) collisions at . Coherent J/ψ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral Pb–Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Lavicka, Roman (Prague, Tech. U.) /ALICE Collaboration
There are several predictions for the behaviour of the gluon distribution in nuclei at small Bjorken-x and experimental data are needed to choose among them. This is achieved by measuring the cross section of processes specially sensitive to this parton distribution. [...]

Hadronic shower properties in highly granular calorimeters with different absorbers / Chadeeva, Marina (Lebedev Inst.) /CALICE Collaboration
The CALICE collaboration develops and tests highly granular calorimeter prototypes for future collider experiments. The scintillator-SiPM-based prototypes of hadron calorimeters with steel and tungsten absorbers were exposed to test beams from the CERN SPS in 2007-2011. [...]

Overview of ALICE results on light flavour hadron production / Riabov, V G (St. Petersburg, INP ; Moscow Phys. Eng. Inst.) /ALICE Collaboration
Light flavour hadrons are copiously produced in hadronic and heavy-ion interactions and bring a wealth of information about properties of the produced medium and reaction dynamics. Having different masses, quark content and lifetimes, light flavour hadrons do not only serve as general observables in the soft sector, but also play an important role as high transverse momentum probes and signatures of the onset of collectivity in high-multiplicity collisions of small and large systems. Exploring hot QCD matter via direct photons at ALICE / Peresunko, D (Kurchatov Inst., Moscow) /ALICE Collaboration
We review ALICE results on direct photon production in pp, pA and AA collisions and compare them to predictions of NLO pQCD calculations, hydrodynamic, and transport models. In pp and pA collisions the measured direct photon yield is consistent with NLO pQCD calculations, scaled with the number of binary collisions. [...]

Overview of ALICE results on ultra-peripheral collisions / Kryshen, Evgeny (St. Petersburg, INP) /ALICE
Lead nuclei, accelerated at the LHC, are sources of strong electromagnetic fields which can be used to measure photon-induced interactions in a new kinematic regime. These interactions can be studied in ultra-peripheral p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions where impact parameters are larger than the sum of nuclear radii and hadronic interactions are strongly suppressed.
