Resignation at the PFGB
Whilst we were gathered in the main building on 17 December last year, CERN Council was deciding on the future of our pensions. Nothing happened, except for an additional delaying tactic surrounded by an official silence. Having noted the decision by the Member States to remove from the Pension Fund Governing Board (PFGB) the discussions about restoring the financial health of our Pension Fund, the newly-elected Staff Council has unanimously decided that the President of the Staff Association should resign from his position in the PFGB. Our President is thus free from his duty of discretion and can now fully defend the rights of all the beneficiaries of our Fund. Please read the open letter addressed to the President of Council and a brief chronology of a decision forever being postponed.
