Overview of jet physics results from ALICE / Krizek, Filip (Rez, Nucl. Phys. Inst.) /ALICE Collaboration
Recent results from jet shower-shape and substructure analyses done by the ALICE collaboration in central Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV and in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV are reviewed. The presented jet shower- shape observables are angularity g and transverse momentum dispersion pTD, which were studied for a small resolution parameter R = 0.2, track-based jets with a minimum constituent transverse momentum (pT) cut-off of 0.15 GeV/c. A new forward calorimeter (FoCal) covering 3.4 < η < 5.8 is being developed as a possible detector upgrade of the ALICE experiment at LHC . FoCal will be a unique detector with a Si+W electromagnetic calorimeter (FoCal-E) and a conventional sampling hadronic calorimeter (FoCal-H), and the installation of and data taking with FoCal are expected during the LHC Long Shutdown 3 (in 2025-2027) and Run 4 (in 2027–2029), respectively. Measurements of groomed heavy-flavour jet substructure with ALICE / Kučera, Vit (CERN) /ALICE Collaboration
We report the first measurements of the groomed heavy-flavour jet substructure variables 𝑧g, 𝑅g, and 𝑛SD using the Soft Drop algorithm for charged-particle jets tagged by fully reconstructed D0mesons in pp collisions at √𝑠 = 13 TeV. AIterative declustering techniques access the jet splitting tree of track-based jets, with grooming techniques isolating the perturbative branches. [...]
